The fighter squadron of air group 6 (VF-6) was split between 3 different light carriers. VF-2 was embarked to fill the gap.
The CVL air group complement of aircrafts was re-organized with an increased number of fighter planes. The use of SBD Dauntlesses without folding wing was impractical, so that plane never fought from CVL decks.

The composite squadron VC-24 intended for Belleau Wood became a SBD only unit and was land based on Munda, New Georgia.
It took over all the SBDs from light carriers squadrons and later became VB-98.
